General

On the opening day all the rides, festival tents and stalls open at 3.00 pm.

No, admission to the Cannstatter Volksfest is free of charge. One obviously has to pay for all rides, food and drink and services on the Wasen. Wednesday are always Family Days with special activities and reduced prices. 

There will be a strong police and security staff presence at the entrances. Both uniformed and civil police offices will be patrolling the Wasen site. Ask them, if you have some questions.

Visitors are recommended to refrain from bringing backpacks, large bags etc. All items unnecessary to one having an enjoyable time at the festival are best left at home. The quickest access to the Wasen site is gained by those not carrying backpacks or other bags. Such items will be searched at the entrances by security staff and the police.

Yes, you will find it near by the police station. A fee of 2 till 3 euro will be charged for each helmet or piece of baggage handed in.

The following objects are not permitted: irritant gas sprays, all kinds of weapons and firearms or objects that may be used as weapons, electroshock devices, vitriolic and colouring fluids, fireworks as well as gas-filled balloons and similar objects with a metal-coated surface. It is also not permitted to bring along bottles, mugs, tankards, cans or containers made of fragile or hard material.

No, it is not permitted to bring animals to the festival site. Guide dogs area allowed without any restrictions.

The lost property office is no longer manned once the Volksfest is over. Please then contact the city of Stuttgart’s lost property office at the following telephone number: +49 711 216-89893.

Plan your journey to the festival and use public transport: The special U11 light railway service will take you directly to the Volksfest. The Bad Cannstatt railway station is less than a 10-minute walk to the festival site.

Should it be imperative to travel by car, please use the designated car parks. Limited car and coach parking is located in the immediate vicinity of the main entrance. It is signposted from all approach roads and stewards will direct you to available spaces. Parking is charged at 6 euro a day for cars and 12 euro for coaches.

Parking spaces for disabled persons are also signposted. It is not permitted to park in spaces reserved for residents in the area surrounding the Cannstatter Wasen. Please avoid unnecessary searches for parking spaces and observe all signs prohibiting entry to residential areas. Regular controls will be made.

Children and young persons

Yes, the Volksfest is a festival for the whole family: the family days with special prices and fantastic activities on Wednesdays offer lots of fun for young and old. The German Red Cross has set up a centre for children which has a nappy changing facility – as have many of the site’s sanitary facilities. For those travelling to the festival with a baby carriage/buggy via the Bad Cannstatt railway station, it is recommended you to access the Wasen via the Elwertstraße underpass. It has a ramp suitable for baby carriages. Please remember that it is nicer visiting the Volksfest when there is no crush.

Yes, buggies are permitted. Use is at your own risk. 

Children and young persons under the age of 16 may only enter the festival tents if accompanied by a legal guardian. Children under the age of 6 may not remain in the beer and wine tents after 8.00 pm even if they are accompanied by a legal guardian. Children under the age of 14 are only permitted to remain on the festival site after 8.00 pm if accompanied by a legal guardian. Young persons under the age of 16 may only remain on the festival site after 10.00 pm if accompanied by a legal guardian.

The “Agentur für Arbeit Stuttgart” – a job agency – (Nordbahnhofstr. 30, Zimmer A 102, 70191 Stuttgart) establishes an office every year to recruit people to work at the Cannstatter Volksfest.

The names of the showmen and market traders for the current Cannstatter Volksfest are made public after the end of the tendering process about eight weeks before the start of the festival. All the contact details over and above the company name, the industry and the name of the operator is subject to the privacy laws.

The in.Stuttgart Veranstaltungsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG unites events and event venues in the state capital of Stuttgart under one umbrella. From the Hanns Martin Schleyer Halle, the Porsche Arena, the Kultur- und Kongresszentrum Liederhalle to the Cannstatter Wasen, the events in the city centre, the open air stage in Killesberg and the Easy Ticket Service – they are all run by the same organisation. And it also obviously organises, amongst other things, the Cannstatter Volksfest and the Stuttgarter Frühlingsfest.
