7 p.m. Opening ceremony and keg tapping
Every year the Cannstatter Volksfest is inaugurated by the Lord Mayor with the traditional keg tapping. The more or less successful ceremony about tap and mallet is followed by a varied program with cheerful music, comedic contributions and the very best of Swabian cooking. At the same time outside the tents fairground entertainers already invite to wild rides, spooky adventures and lots of fun and enjoyment.
Fairground rides, marquees and snack bars open at 3 p.m.

11 a.m. Traditional morning at the Fruit Column
With traditional brass music, flag thrower, historical dance groups, a marching band, a trumpet horn band, performers in traditional costumes, the mounted city guard, the Cannstatter Volksfestverein and many more.

11 a.m. Large festival parade
Magnificently decorated, resplendent teams from the breweries, colourful local costume groups and bands, historical groups and uniformed organizations from all over the state and beyond with more than 3,500 participants – accompanied by the applause of the happy crowds lining the roads – from Cannstatter Kursaal to Cannstatter Wasen, which is the vibrant center of the festival of Stuttgart.

Each as of 12 noon, and from thereon the whole day is about family-friendly and inexpensive celebration down the generations. Many enterprises, likewise the large festival tents, offer special children's portions.

9.45 p.m. Music Fireworks Show
Everyone agrees: An absolute highlight of every Cannstatter Volksfest is the gorgeous music fireworks show. This year the 14th of October is the day when as of 9.45 p.m. the night sky of the festival will change into an impressive sea of light. A music fireworks show to intoxicate all the senses.
