Safe Wasen

To ensure the safety of all visitors and operators at the Cannstatter Volksfest, representatives of the police, the German Red Cross, a security service, and the youth welfare office are on site at all times.

This year, the “Wasenbuoy” will once again be offering an additional service on the festival grounds, providing a “safe space” specifically for girls, women, and anyone who identifies as such. The Wasenbuoy is a pilot project run by the Municipal Crime Prevention Office and the Equal Opportunities Department of the State Capital of Stuttgart.

How do I find the Wasenbuoy?

The dark blue container with the neon green “Wasenbuoy” logo is located at the entrance to the festival grounds (coming from parking lot P10). It is easy to find thanks to the illuminated 3D buoy on the roof.

What does the Wasenbuoy help me with?

If you have lost your group, need to rest, have had too much to drink or have experienced harassment, the Wasenbuoy is a good place to go. For example, women and girls can charge their cell phones there to find friends again. The Wasenbuoy team also helps with calling a cab for a safe ride home or accompanies women and girls to the police if something has happened.

When is the Wasenbuoy open?

The Wasenbuoy is open every day during the entire festival from 1 p.m. until the end of the festival—and longer if necessary.

Who runs the Wasenbuoy?

Six female specialists with backgrounds in social pedagogy or psychology have been specially trained and are on hand to offer advice and support to anyone seeking help.
